XJR Bank #2 O2
I began the process of replacing my drivers front O2 sensor today. I'm around the house the next couple of days and thats a good thing because they built the whole car around that sensor.
I ordered the Bosch sensor from Amazon - box says "Made in Japan" -- sensor says "Assembled in USA"? The OE sensor in the car was a Denso. They look almost identical.
Had to remove the coolant tank from the car and also free some sensors from the firewall. The down pipe heat shield needs to be removed - but all I could do is move it somewhat out of away. There is no room to work and having a couple of dedicated O2 sensor wenches is a must as is small hands. Fuel lines, A/C lines, vacuum lines all kinds of coolant tubes, assorted wires plus the accelerator cable .....all in the way!!
I would love to know how the dealers do this? I have the new sensor on just finger tight -- will finish it up tomorrow. I hope this fixes it!

I hope the dealership/indie engineers have a short cut but from the top of the engine, there isn't. Maybe drop the cats, using a ramp and replace that way, from underneath?
I just replaced mine from the top last week.
1. Loosen the coolant tank and use a bungie to tie to hood shock
2. Remove the 3 screws that attach the heat shield and push the shield down toward the ground ( it will slide down out of the way)
3. Use a 22mm and a 23mm open box end wrench to loosen the sensor
4. You will need to alternate between the 2 wrench sizes due to lack of space
5. Disconnect the connector, which is on top of the trans bell housing
It takes a little time and patience, but it can be donefrom the top.
