XJR camber out of alignement 1.42
Hi Jag Lovers,
My left front camber alignement is out of alignment (2.29). To solve this issue I allready have changed the upper wishbone, this took me 3hours to cut it out and exchanged it with a used one plus a new balljoint. I have changed the shocks too. Now I get an alignement of 1.42, improved but still too much. I thought changing the lower wishbone could do the trick, but I´m not too confessed and it´s a pain in the **** to remove the spring. Does anybody ever had the same problem ? Any other idears ? I guess I have to change it, just to make sure......
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Frank

It would be most helpful if you would identify what your XJR model is. The most convenient is to add it to your signature. Assuming you have a X308 the info for your camber is at showroom height -0.47 to -1.47. If you are at -1.42 you are within spec.
Attached is an excerpt from the tech manual. The camber is adjusted by the fulcrum bolts on the lower wishbone.

The attached picture is of the alignment report, before and after, that was given to me by a high end European car shop in a nearby town. They spent 90 minutes aligning my car! I am posting it for two reasons; 1) I hope this somehow helps you understand what is accomplished by an alignment and 2) to get feedback from someone who understands alignments better than I.
They told me that to adjust the rear better I'd have to let them order the shims and bring the car back, but that if I rotate the tires regularly I don't really need to have the car adjusted any more. What they did dramatically decreased a pull to the right, but I can still sense it sometimes. The tech said that my brakes were very new and not bedded in yet, and that could be causing the slight pull I occasionally still feel.

Hi Avern
thank you for your post and yes you assume right, it´s an 2001 XJR, X308 .... thanks for the advice , I have updated my signature.
I attached the alignement protocols, I don´t have too much trouble with the camber, but the car drives shitty because of the steering pull problem (goes right). You could see with naked eyes that the wheel is more negative inclined.
But I have to say that the car has been lowered for approx. 1.5 Inch.
Would it make sense to bring the opposing side camber into the same negative value like the left side ? It might be possible to correct the steering pull issue am I´m right ?
Thanks

Hi harvest14,
first of all, thanks for your post. As far as I understand your picture, it seems that there are still issues with the wheel alignement. If everything has been aligned well, all markers should be green. But I´m not a Pro but there is a reason why these tools have red and green, good or bad
indicators. I assume that the numbers are more important than the colors so the numbers are very even and within the Jag specs like Avern said.
Is the attached picture the final result of your wheel alignement ?
Thanks

The bottom part is current, yes. They said it is within spec but that's as close as they could get it. I still have a very slight fade to the right, but the other Jags track perfectly straight and I want this one to do the same. I will rotate tires tonight after work to officially rule that out.
If the tire swap will not help, it could be an option to bring the right camber in minus more than the left side, this could negate the pull right problem.
But this is the try and error method and time intensiv, somtimes the only solution for jag enthusiasts :-)
