Xjr possible purchase
Let me start by stating that I LOVE my old XJ6 daily driver.
Recently, I have decided to add another Jag to my garage.
I found a local 98 XJR that I like. Under 100K miles. Excellent inside and out, apparently well looked after by previous owners. Kept covered in heated garage. I has a Borla stainless catback, open KN filter and window tint.
The engine purrs at cold start, no smoke, no red flags.
The current owner (a senior gentleman) cared for it for the last 5 years and purchased it from a friend in the present condition. He claims to have had no issues except for a dead battery. Evidently, the car sat unused for a "good while" and when he replaced the battery several electrical components failed. The radio, seats, and steering column no longer work.
I drove the car and it seemed as tight as a new car, but seemed slower than I expected!? From a dead stop, it feels downright lethargic like grandma's Mercury Marquis or something...Acceleration from 40-80 mph was rather lazy and not nearly as eager as the straight six I currently drive.
Any thoughts on the electrical problems or the poor acceleration?

Is there any slack in the accelerator pedal? Mine had around an inch of travel on it before resistance could be felt - the cable required adjustment at the throttlebody as the butterfly was not fully opening.

Thank you both for your replies.
Could all of these issues be a result of a length of time with a dead battery?Could perhaps an improper attempted jump start cause burnt fuse/relay/module to some of the electrical components?
