hey guys, i tried to use search and could not come up with a legit answer therefore i am asking..i am new to this forum but i tried to find categories but was unsuccessful therefore i am asking here....

i have a 01 jaguar xjr (x308) premium alpine sound , my question is what size are the speakers in the doors ...fronts have tweeters on the A pillars and rears have tweeters in the door handle.

im assuming somewhere along the lines of 6.5 or 5.25? and what type of connectors are the speakers using? thank you guys!

perhaps once i get started on this project ill make a "how to" thread for future users with pictures and all

 

I wanna say they're 6.5" but I didn't measure when I had the doors apart yesterday. Definitely appeared bigger than 5 1/4's. As for the connector, as with many cars, it's a unique plug so you'll end up splicing to a new set if you replace them.

 

I did some research online and i believe you are correct they are 6.5 speakers, ill be ordering some from online soon and ill make a how to install them

 

Just to confirm fot you. The four doors have 6 1/2" Alpine's. I've replaced all four. Just cut and splice the wires and you're done.

ForcedAir1 - I was able to install some speakers today into the doors i took a few pictures for the "how to" as well but my question is ....when i was installing the speakers i noticed that the older alpine speakers were not labeled positive or negative therefore i kinda had to guess or create a strategy on what i should make positive and what i should make negative ..because in each door the speaker wire were different colors and both wires had stripes....so i basically choose darker wire for positive and lighter wire for negative...some clarification on that would be great how did you go about wiring your speakers?


the speakers i bought were Sony 4 way speakers with a peak of 500 watts and rms of 60..nothing to fancy but they sound crisp and nice...now if i can only get to the so called sub woofer (actually 6x9 speaker lol)...
