Default XJR "Surging"

My mechanic did a re-flash and the car seems to shift better, but I now notice at around 30mph and 50-55 mph, the car surges, as if it is hunting for a gear. Any thoughts? I am wondering if it should be re-flashed?

Thanks!

JP

I'm not sure re-flash is the right term, he re-programmed the transmission and ECU via Jag subscription

Thanks,

JP

it's quite possible that driving in both sport/normal mode that adaptation takes place. How many miles have you done since the reflash?
Did you make a note of the program version that was uploaded?
If not much mileage, keep driving it the way you normally do, maybe some spirited driving, mix it up a bit. Let it learn your driving style and see if it settles down.

I had a Jaguar tech reflash my ecm with a Rotunda VCM dongle attached to a Panasonic Tough Book, with the latest IDS disc, this will be what Jag_Genius is referring to.

One strange thing was IDS didn't have the Mercedes Benz TCM listed in transmissions, it had the ZF etc. I hope he didn't load a ZF program into the Benz gearbox. That's why we left the gearbox programming alone.

It has not been very many miles, maybe 100. I will drive it in sport today and "mix it up." I will also find out what tool he used tomorrow when it goes in for brake fluid change and winter wheel/tire swap. Thanks so much for the advise, Jag Genius and Sean, much appreciated! Hopefully it is still learning at this point. JP
