XJR Transmission “Clicking” When Cold
Lately when started from cold there is a faint “clicking” reminiscent of a noisy injector except it only takes place when in gear (forward or reverse) and not in neutral or park.
Shifting is smooth with no clunks or hesitations and the click disappears within a couple of blocks and doesn’t reoccur even on warm restarts. The transmission was serviced and the fluid replaced last summer and the car has done about 8,500 km since (currently at 104,000 km).
Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Thanks Sean… she’s due for a shop trip this week - assuming he’s FINALLY wrapped up with the Series 3 cascade of things that needed doing and waiting for - so I’ll make sure he checks that while it’s there!
While I haven't chased it down yet, my 01 XJR makes a noise similar to what you're describing. Almost like a piston slap noise, which is what I've assumed it is. Only when cold, only when in gear and only for a minute or two until it starts to warm up.
I'll be interested to see what your shop has to say as I've done nothing and its still there!
