Question XJSport Missing Roll Bar?

Looked under my 2000 XJ Sport for the first time yesterday. I was checking the bushings, since I have been noticing some play and light clunking in the suspension. But I can't seem to locate the sway/anti-roll bar. It was my understanding that the sport models always had this, but it appears mine doesn't. Could you guys post photos of your suspension, sport or otherwise, just so I can compare? Also, is there a way to install a bar onto my setup?

As far as the play, the other bushings seem fine, but the play is above the wheels. With the car lifted, the top of the wheel can be pushed in (wheel tilted) about a half inch. I thought it was a wheel bearing, but the hub moves as well. It seems the play is located in the differential. Is this a problem, or normal?

Thanks, all.

Thanks, that thread was very informative! Now about how to get one of those mounting plates?

I've got an extra mount with the sway bar attachments in my garage.

It's available if anyone is interested. The only challenge with adding this is that it's attached with the control arm bolts, meaning the inner arm must be held in place and the foot long + bolts pulled out and then swap mount and re-install bolts. Not super difficult just can be a pain without lift and stands.

The other way would be to weld some plates onto the existing piece.
I already took some pictures with dimensions and been meaning to post them. Just been busy. I'll see if I can put them together when I get back in office.

Personally I'd add the bar and skip welding. Despite the hassle of the control arm bolts it's probably less work than getting plates fab up and welded on.

If you have a drill press and a cutoff wheel then you can buy a piece of steel plate to fabricate one yourself.

It is possible, but not something I would recommend at all. By the time you have done all that it would likely be less work to get the correct part and swap it.

Here is a difference between the two:
