1990 xj6 wont start
well here is the issue.
I bought a 1990 jag xj6 a few days ago, its been driving and starting fine.
Well today I pull in somewhere shut it off and let it sit for a while, get back in start it up put it in reverse then drive and it dies, now it wont start back up.
A warning light also kicked on, its for the trans though.
I checkd and there is fuel and spark.
well today i wiggled the ignition coil and the light went off wiggled it agian and it came back on then went back off the car stillwont start though.
this has me very confused

i had a similar problem and what caused it was the TPS under the throttle body. had to drill, very carefully i might add, a small hole in the corner and one it the corner diagonally from it then spray it out with CRC elctrical spray. a lot of oil came out and then set it and problem was fixed, the trans light went out, and away she purred...... not sure if this is the same problem as yours but it is a suggestion. My is a 93 xj6.
good luck

Without more to go on, it sounds like it's being starved for fuel. You need to have not only fuel pressure, but the proper fuel pressure which I think is about 40 psi. I suppose it could be a weak or flaky fuel pump, but there are a few tests that can be done before you go pulling stuff off and replacing. Do you find that the car will start and drive when it is cold? Does the car start any more at all?

Wow.
Interesting one.
Generaly, its going to be either the pump or the filter that cause issues.
Of coures, we are assuming that gas is feeding from the tank properly.
However, if the pressure regulator (on the end of the fuel rail) is faulty you wont get any kind of pressure build up. All the gas will just get fed right back to the tank through the return line.
