1991 XJ40 ABS Wheel Sensor Question - ABS (Anti lock) Light on Solid
Hello - When I start my 91 Sovereign (XJ6) the Yellow ABS ''anti
lock'' warning light is on from start of trip to end of trip. I have
replaced all of the usual components including the 3 relays, the abs
ecm, Accumulator ball and pressure switch, brakes work fine, power pump works fine and the red brake light remains off.
I install the jumper on the ABS diag connector in trunk and turn key on and get no blinks - light stays on solid....
My question is that if I had a dirty wheel sensor - would the light
come on at start till finish. I even replaced the ABS ECM and the
light came right on immediately and the car didn't move - does this
sound like a dirty abs wheel sensor? I have not looked at them yet
but now plan to. I check the resistance of each sensor at the ECM
and they were all the same.
If they are dirty and I clean them is it possible that after
cleaning them and driving the car - the light would go off?
Or do you clean them and then disconnect the battery and ''start
over''?
Or any other ideas as what si causing the yellow light to be on all of the time? Thanks All

I take it by your later message on the same topic cleaning the sensors didn't work.
Here is another possibility:

Problem: 1988-1989 Jaguar XJ6 ABS light is coming on while the car is not moving.
Solution: Follow This Troubleshooting Guide
Check alternator for charging
Without an expensive alternator testing machine, it is hard to know with complete certainty whether your alternator is charging properly. However, this will give you a general idea. Connect a volt meter to your car's battery (positive to positive and negative to negative). Start your vehicle and take notice of the voltage output on the volt meter. If there is an increase in voltage when the car is started, your alternator is probably good. If there is not an increase in voltage, it is probably bad.
Need to replace your alternator? Buy it online: AL191X
Replace ABS/Overvoltage relay
If your alternator is charging properly, replace the ABS/Overvoltage relay. It is located in the trunk behind the carpeted panel just forward of the fuel filler neck.
Note: More often than not, this will be the problem
Need a new ABS/Overvoltage relay? Buy it online: DBC4282
Replace ABS computer
Note: Although it is possible that this is your problem, it rarely fails.
