When it's having one of it's fits I would test to make sure power is getting to the fuel pump.

Pump relay for a '92 is on a bracket adjacent to the brake master cylinder, if memory serves. There is also a two wire harness connector for the pump at the base of the fuel tank, left side (look for blue wire). The terminal connections at the evaporative loss flange and the fuel pump link lead, both inside the tank, are notorius for burning up and causing intermittant pump feed...until the connection fails completely.

I had a similar issue. Found the be the connectors inside the tank. Completely broken on the pump nothing left at all. I my case I changed the pump for a spare and touch wood OK for now.

Cut that 2 pin connector OUT! One wire is blue/red trace and the other is solid black. Then solder the 4 wires together! Do not attempt to clean that connection. Get rid of the connector altogether.

Yepper. Lately I have resorted to doing the same thing for the connector to the link lead at the evaporative loss flange: the link lead replacement requires buying a complete new fuel pump mudule assembly, and the terminal connector block requires the purchase of a new evap. loss flange. That's freaking hundreds of dollars worth of factory-only parts, fed to a $2,000 car. Not gonna happen.
