I also have a whisk of blue smoke when the car is hot and it disappears after a few secs , it's from valve guides , not a big deal or nothing to worry about ,this is what I have been told

The 1993/94 were the worst offenders for the 'blue smoke at startup'. I have replaced the valve stem seals with the head on the engine and with it removed (it can be done either way). You can buy ALOT of oil for the time and money it will take to replace the stem seals......

If my 1992 XJ40 smoked at startup I would not look in the rearview mirror at startup.

If it's blue smoke only on startup, I wouldn't worry for now, but it is possible it can get worse eventually - just make sure there is definitely no blue smoke when the engine is idling and at higher revs.
Check your engine oil level regularly to monitor increasing oil consumption - that's when you will have to do something about it...
