Default 1994 XJ12 Oil change

Hello everyone, normally in the 308 section. Helping a friend change the oil on his 94 xj 12 later this week. How many quarts does it take? And does anyone have an oil filter part number? I did search, and couldn't find anything.

The oil filter is Jaguar part number EBC9658 - you should tell your pal to check the Jaguar Heritage site in the UK for info like this BTW - just click the part number and you'll get the site - I always use the equivalent Wix filter, Wix 51231

...no idea on the capacity though, Maybe the XJS forum users would have more of a clue - that 6.0 litre motor went into far more XJS's than XJ40's

cheers

Larry

Thanks a lot Larry! He just told me he has the owner's manual. At least I know what oil weight to use. I'd assume non synthetic since the engine is an old design, and wouldn't want it to leak. But will investigate more on that.

The owners manual should state the capacity.

The older 5.3 V12s took about 11.5 quarts, FWIW.

If the manual doesn't say, and nobody else chimes in with a solid answer, I'd start with 10 quarts and add as needed.

Cheers

Great advice, thank you. I'll post up some pics of his car. It is immaculate.
