Default 91 Jaguar very sluggish

This morning, I became the owner of a 91 Jaguar that has been sitting for six years. She was kept running but not really driven. It has 71k miles. Have owned more Triumphs than I can count but my first Jaguar and its issues. OK, here is the issue. The car had 1/8th of a tank of fuel which I suspect was or had gone bad. The car ran so I added another two gallons of fuel and fuel injector cleaner to get it to run smoothly. No problem, that worked. Then when I took it out to drive, she had no power. I could get rpms out of the engine by pushing on the throttle on the engine, but under load she was just not going. She would limp down the road, but that was it. I have my ideas, but want to get an idea from those who have been working on these as I would like to incorporate Jaguars into my projects. Mike in Ocala Fl

Hi Mike:
Welcome to Jaguar and welcome to the forum! Sounds like an exciting project. I also have a 91, which really is a pride and joy. I wish you all the best.

Sounds to my mechanically-ignorant ears to do with a dirty throttle body. But, I'm wondering if you have any codes on the VCM. First, is the Check Engine Light on? Second, after you've turned off the car, re-turn the key to position II (without cranking) and press the VCM button. Note what appears on the display and report back. It will help in tracking down possible faults.

Best,
Scott
