YES. Just did it on my X300 due to key fobs being $350 each, I am not that keen.

I reckon your XJ40 is the same in this area basically. By that I mean that when you use the key in the "drivers door" the whole car locks, including boot, and fuel flap, ??.

If so, read on, if not forget what I say next.

You will need a "keyless remote interface kit", which is a "magic box", 2 remote fobs, in a box, with instructions, simple enough, and about $60. I use Cyclops, or Steelmate, or whatever is on special on the day, and 2 standard 4 pin relays (spotlight type will do).

Remove the driver door trim, peel back the plastic liner, look in the bottom corner (below the lock stuff) and you should see a wiring loom. In that loom SHOULD be a "orange/yellow" wire, and an "orange/blue" wire. These are the 2 wires going FROM the door barrel TO the input of the car module, follow me, GOOD. The orange/yellow is the LOCK wire, and the other is the UNLOCK wire.

These are a "momentary earth" for activation, so 2 relays are used to switch to earth. Locate the "lock and unlock" wires on the NEW interface. Connect the interface lock wire to terminal "85" of one relay, terminal "86" goes to earth, terminal "87" goes to earth, terminal "30/51" is connected via a soldered splice to the "orange/yellow" wire. Take the "unlock wire" of your new interface, and the 2nd relay, and connect it as you just did, but with the "30/51" spliced into the "orange/blue" wire. You will require a "power and earth wire" for that interface, and they will be available in the door switch pack I reckon, earth is simple, and any SOLID Brown wire is 12v +ve. Mirror wiring switch for example, as I believe your mirrors are "live" same as mine. I mounted the interface inside the door, up near the top door hinge, which clears the window gear.

If this is too hard to follow, or confusing, for you or anyone, PM me, and I will do a drawing and a more detailed write up, as space here is limited, and return to your email address direct.

Default 92 xj6 keyless entry

Yes, can you please email me the detail steps (including pics, if you have one) so i can put in a keyless entry on my 92 xj6 Vanden Plas.

I ruin the door handle key holder on the driver side. so now i can only enter the car by putting in the keys on the passenger side then go around the car to enter thru the driver side.

hence i would just like to install a remote door opener.

Your help is very much appreciated.

email me at kcidmad@hotmail.com

thanks in advance and God bless.

Done.

The diagram is hand drawn, and NOT very professional, but it shows what is needed.

Hi,

Yes please. Have exactly the same problem as mentioned above.

If you could mail me at odd.harald.olsen@mimer.no i would be very greatful.

I had a look at systems from Rightclick - also found "blank" keys at ebay very cheap so I can use the "retractable" fob. Any experiences from these systems?

Thanks in advance.
