Happy new year all. Just a query. I just returned from holidays to find my battery flat in my XJ40. Swapped the battery and the vehicle started ok but it seems the VCM has forgotten the engine timing ballistics and is now running on default settings. The idle rate is so low it stalls when I take my foot off the pedal. My old car had electronic enhine management and did the same thing when the battery died but it relearned the engine ballistics after a short drive. My XJ40 has berunning all morning but it keeps stalling when I allow the throttle to drop back to rest positon. Any clues on how to resolve this. Maybe a fast drive on the freeway or something. I'd prefer not to limp it back to the dealer if the engine management is capable of self adjusting.
