de-coding my Alpine radio
I have a 1992 Daimler XJ40 with an Alpine radio cassette player but it bust. I've got another one but don't have the code. Can anybody explain to me how i can get rid of the code or bypass it please.
Do you have the VIN of the vehicle it came out of? You'd need that plus proof of purchase with reference to the donor vehicle's VIN to get the dealer to hand over the code.
You might be better off returning that radio and buying one from someone who will give you the code along with the radio.

I got another radio from Jagbreakers with a code but that unit must have been a replacement already as the code didn't work. And i have to replace the facia with my old one as the replacement is a Jag unit and not Daimler. Gotta keep it original looking if i can as my car is an exceptionally good and well cared for example.
Forgot how much i hate electronic stuff. Chances of getting a proper working Daimler unit seem pretty remote.

You really need to contact Jagbreakers then. You have purchased an unusable radio if the code they supplied isn't correct. I'd think the burden of doing the necessary footwork to get the proper code falls squarely on them...
