Default Freshly polished XJ40

I seriously contemplated whether these should be posted in the "detailing" thread or perhaps the "photography" thread, but decided that since it was specific to this model, this might be the right place. Mods, if these fit better elsewhere, please feel free to move them.

I stopped by a buddy's place on Saturday and got the new car all polished up. Rubbing compound, swirl remover, and a good quality wax, all worked wonders. It's pretty clear that this car spent the last few years at least, under a cover, but outside. The paint is pretty well worn-through where it would have been buffeted by the wind while it sat. Too bad, because she cleaned up really nicely otherwise. I'm quite pleased with the results overall.

By the time we finished up the work, we were running out of light. I made him bring his Spitfire out for the photo shoot. Too good an opportunity to pass up

My favorite shot of the night. The hood ornament was removed (aggressively) sometime prior to my purchase. I picked this one up online. Not perfect, but the car definitely deserves to have it.

Sunset

I took these the next day, and finally managed to capture the color better. I see now that I need to polish up those tailpipes

There's ice on the lakes already here in Minnesota

I had to drive around to the other side of the lake for this one, to get the sun in the right place to capture the driver's side.

Great color! Its good to protect the paint on Jags. Once the clear coat goes, it starts to look really worn. My XJ40 is up for paint or a wrap in the near future. Maybe Ill just sand it down and give it fresh clear coat with all of the patina intact. Itll be glossy and thats what matters!

She's beautiful, Mike!

Thank you for taking the time to take the photos and post them for the rest of us to drool over!

Cheers,

Don

I think that first one with the older car is the 1st XJ40 photo I like. Congratulations. (no snark - great photo)

That's a lovely looking '40, thanks for posting the photos. The Spitfire looks very original, even retaining its Federal bumpers.
