Fuel delivery issue 1991 XJ40
Blew my main fuel line to fuel rail. Craig at The jag Shop was very kind to find me a new one. Replaced it and clean out sludge trap at same time. Ran great for two days. Tried starting to go to lunch and would not start. Cranked too much and toasted my starter. Replaced my starter and re-tested. Turns over but still no start. Seemed like no fuel or completely flooded. Pulled spark plugs out and found fuel on plugs. Cranked the engine over without plugs in and found that #5 cylinder's fuel injector is dumping ounces of fuel instead of spraying mist. Tossing out fuel at #5 as it cranks over. What's the deal? Is this normal or possibly a cold start injector dump. Bad injector? Bad pressure regulator? Bad ECU?
What am I missing?
If anyone has any idea please share some thought.
Thanks,
Mike, PDX

First of all you are NEW, so welcome.
I am going out on a limb and ASSUMING that Portland is in the USA??, and not the nice seaside town down here ??????. Just remember there is a whole lot of world outside the mighty USA, and we have NO IDEA if we are not told, and answers will vary, due to different equipment on our cars for each world market.

I reckon you have some gunge from that line replacement that has found its way into that injector and is causing it to "dribble" and dump fuel, and that small bit of stuff is holding it open.
The only real option is to remove all the injectors and have them cleaned and set, OR, just swap out that #5 injector and drive on.
I would be replacing the fuel filter, just because.
With all that fuel a new set of spark plugs will do no harm either.
