So Rhode Island gives out “Governor Preferred Plates” to those who request a custom plate by mail, and after months of waiting, either get a yellow slip like this to bring to the DMV or a letter stating your selection is unavailable.
Preferred plates are either 1-5 numbers, one letter and 1-3 numbers, two letters and 1-3 numbers. They are not Vanity Plates which carry a 2x registration charge each time you renew, plus the cost of making the plate.
Looks like I’m the first in RI to request one for my XJ40! Can’t wait to wait at the DMV for 4 hours! XD I’ll be putting one in for my XJ12, “X305” too.
