Things are looking up! Will provide an update once the work is done. I also ordered a new idle air control valve for $10, figured "hey, why not?"

 

The paper ones with 6 holes are for the plate on the back of the head.
the small oval one bottom right is top chain tensioner. Two smaller one rings are used in chain tensioner as well. Metal gaskets egr.

 

I was unable to locate the correct tools for the job and ended up having it sent in to a Jag dealership. They've been pretty backed up so they've had my car for a while. But I was told that my car should be done within the next two weeks..!
