Default Headlights?

I see two diffrent versions of the xj40? Why do some have two circle headlights and others have one since big rectangle headlight? Does year have anything to do with it? Did both versions come to america? I dont get why there are two diffrent styles of the xj40's?

You can see both versions in the US . I honestly don't have an idea , I presumed base model XJ6s came with the circular lights , upscale model Sovereign came with the square lamps , XJ12s came with the circular lights
However I saw an XJ6 with square lights . The owner of the car could swap his lights to square ones as well .

What I know is that Daimlers aka Daimlers came with square lights regardless of the model name Six or Daimler Six
You can easily swap the lights if you like

Yes, they came with both. My '91 base sedan has the circle version. Some guys have swapped out the 'brick' lights for circles to make things look a bit more Jaguar-y in continuity with the series III and the X300s. I kind of like the bricks - certainly an XJ40 distinctive that you either love or hate. Which went with which model, though, is not a simple matter because I think they changed it throughout the run. I have a book called "You and Your XJ40" (no kidding!) that gives the year by year specifics.

They actually made a kit available to install bricks in the earlier XJ40's and the '90 XJ6. Can you believe it, some folks saw that as an upgrade!!

Cheers,

Does that mean I could theoratically change bricks for rounds on a 92?
