Default help fixing dashboard internal lights

hello members of the forum,

little by little I'm facing little things to fix in my new old Jag xj40

after fixing backseat lights, now I would like to have your confirmation that all buttons in central console should have a backlight

see the picture attached, 2 buttons do not have backlighting

is something a newbie can fix or must go to a professional?

thanks for all your info!

The face of the switches pry off, revealing a small bulb.

The buttons have "covers" or "faces" which clip on to the switches. Gently pry off the face and change the bulb. The switches don't have to be removed.

It's been a long time since I did this but if I remember these bulbs just pull straight out, there are two stiff bare wires that slide into small hole sockets in the switch...If you take some tweezers and maybe heat some shrink tubing over the tips you should be able to pull them out safely.

thank you very much for your help and detailed info, I was able to remove one small lamp with a tweezer , and able to pull it back in with patience and some effort ( I could not buy a replacement cause the electric shop was closed and can't tell the bulb was out of order, too little )

side problem though, all lights now on the same row are not working :-(

Any idea why ?

i was working with keys inside the car position 2 to check if the lights were working fine.

thank you for your support
