ok so I have a 1992 jag xj6 soveriegn I just bought a weak ago and since then idiot lights have been turning on, does this car have a history of computer problems, one day it said fuel fail 44, then I replaced the battery blowing the fuses for the lights inside ne ways, now it says fuse 1 the lights, but it no longer says fuel fail 44, the check engine light came on shortly after buying it but now after the battery being changed no check engine? My BIGGEST QUESTION IS: is this the result of the battery being disconnected and the idiot lights are going to come back on or is it a bad computer, or just down right fuses? by the way the car runs great though the idiot lights have come on.

it could very well be, that the last battery was on the way out, or just not getting sufficient charge during any one day. these cars hate duff batteries and hate not being fully charged.
first thing i would do, given its an easy and cheap job, is go round the whole car, ESPECIALLY under the hood/bonnet and clean EVERY earth point, including to and off the battery! good earths are also important on these cars and makes a big difference when they are clean.
another job i`d do in the engine bay, is pull all those large block connectors apart and make sure their clean. check connectors to all the sensors as well, especially temp sensor and maf/air sensor. trust me, all this will pay you back!
