key wont release

another newbie question..ign. key wont go back to release position when turning off car...unhook battery,releases.any ideas...also battery goes dead after a day of sitting,new battery.

Use the search tool on the forum. Battery draining has been discussed. You may have to replace that ignition switch, again searching the forum will help you greatly.
