Default Looking into buying an xj40

I'm looking into buying a second jag for myself and its a tan 1994 xj6...I have a 1997 xj6 and has been a GREAT car all around. People have told me though that the xj40's are a bit temperamental. This one has roughly 100k miles on it and will prob be driven 1,000 miles a year. What should I look for when I go to see it? I know to check all the door handles and when starting look for blue smoke but what else?

Look any car that's approaching 20 years or more can be temperamental. I don't find these cars any different from others their age. There are good ones and not so good ones. My advice is to use your eyes and ears. Door handles and the such are easy fixes and can be fun to do. Let the car run at least 15 minutes, drive it, feel for mis-firing, sluggish performance etc. Is the Check Engine light on? If so why? Look under the car for any leaks even of the slightest kind. Open the gas lid and see if the area around the filler tube is filled with debris. Check the heat, does it work? After all that, if you are satisfied, make them an offer, and remember we are always here to help with any issue

Well this guy wants 2300 bucks for it...very reasonable but Im gonna try and take it for 1700. At least this will leave me some fixing money when I sell my Taurus . Is this a fair price? It seems to be in very good condition

You are better off keeping all your posts on this subject in one thread my man, easier to deal with.

It's a buyers market, you're in control. Stick to a price you will spend and don't budge over that figure. I also understand that if you love the car price is no issue.
