Default mass air flow meter

On my mass air flow meter the screen has become unconnected from the ring that hols it in place,as i went to a couple of salvage yards every one i looked at had the same problem,What i want to know is if removing it will cause any problems.
Thanks in advance

I think its just to keep debris out of that delicate sensor. Maybe you could even make your own? I wouldn't run it without it for to long. There is a lot of air going through there and who know what else.

In general, I wholeheartedly agree with Mrtalkradio. However, making a screen, and making it stay where you want it is a challenge. There are many, many cars out there running around without one; people who aren't careful damage those left and right. So, give it a try, but if it frustrates you, go naked!

Cheers,

I'm pretty sure you can just take it off, some companies sell modified ones that don't have screens for other cars and I'm almost positive that the modified one from AJ6 engineering does not have a screen
