Default My idea of black friday deals

I spent half of black Friday retrieving spare parts after receiving an email from my junk yard offering 35% off. Can you believe even salvage yards have sales. Anyway I got the abs unit for $45 and all 4 calipers w/mounting brackets for another $35. My plan is to rebuild the calipers, have them (and brackets) sand blasted then powder coated in black. I will then install cross-drilled rotors (only because I think they look cool) and the black calipers/brackets. I'm doing this to prepare for next spring when I mount the new 17" Cragar type wheels that are sitting in my garage. Spring can't come soon enough. I am still waiting for the Nardi steering wheel adapter to arrive from Italy so I can buy/install a 14" steering wheel. The huge 16"er is driving me nuts.

PS: I attempted to remove a Teves unit a few ago from another vehicle. I couldn't see and/or figure out the final connecting mechanism so I left it 99% disconnected. After opening my service manual cd and discovering the missing step of removing two rubber grommets to reveal a cotter pin, I went back to find it gone. I hope the other guy appreciated all my hard work. But I did not walk away completely empty handed because I was able to remove the assembly containing the ball, pump and the booster switch.

I loves me a trip to my "junkyard" . Its always a highlight even if I don't get anything. I think that often we get too wrapped up in having shiny and new rather than making it work, especially for hidden parts. I'm not saying that junk is ok, but for me buying used parts is often a no brainer. Excellent find!
