Need some quick advice
So I have had an intermitent running problem for a while. In part because of my hot climate and it's effect on my fuel system and in part because of a few other problems.
Sometimes you press the gas and nothing really happens or there is an incredible loss of power. Like the car wont give it enough fuel. From reading, this is classic throttle potentiometer symptoms. So I took some readings on my cheapish digital volt meter on the throttle pot.
Reference volt was right about 5v and my throttle closed voltage was about .5v a bit high but in range and this volt meter might not be incredibly accurate. Full throttle it sent out the requisite 4.8v. It had pretty smooth open to close and close to open transition but there was a spot at right around high 2's to low 3's where it would show a hiccup.
Keeping in mind this test was done when the car was operating normally and not during one of its episodes could mean I am getting better readings now.
There was/is some oil inside the pot and I am sure thats whats causing the issue. I have read that cleaning them can show some improvement.
Here is where I need some advice. I am going on a +-600 mile round trip up into southern Colorado this Sunday and am planning on taking my Jag. Is this something I should jump on to replace before I leave or is it a safe bet to say it won't crap out completely on me?

Yeah I would order it now I am just wondering if I can clean it and get away with it. Would like to have a little more time to play with it and maybe save 275 bucks. I will probably end up ordering it. My car has a whole new front end and brakes. Id hate to have to baby it around because a known problem decided to rear it's head.
Well I ordered the part but USPS left for the day from motorcars so I am praying to the jag gods it gets here Sat before I leave. Oh well one upside of Co is at 9 -10k feet it wont be able to run as lean :P
