Default The other car

I have had my 4 litre XJ40 for 10 years.I bought it for the princely sum of £1600. My first Jaguar, I was really happy. Over the years I had done all the usual stuff, brakes, steering rack, diff bearings, water pump and minor body issues to name but a few. Basically my Jaguar was sorted. With just 90,000 miles on the clock I loved this car. But then!
Browsing on the internet one day I came across a beautiful 2000 XKR. Is this a guy thing or what but I was tempted with the sheer jaw dropping good looks of this beauty. But hey I already had the love of my life, what was I doing here! Long story short, I succumbed to temptation and embarked on a new love affair. My XJ40 was abandoned to the garage and I had several hectic years of fast exotic motoring in the fast lane. Life was a blur I was intoxicated, the XKR and I were out of control.
One day in the garage I finally came to my senses. I caught sight of my first loves smiling grill as the dust sheet she had been covered in slowly fell from her body. I had been a fool what had I done? I treated her to an oil change, waxed her down and fired her up. I was back with my first love.
Today life is good again. I am back with my lovely XJ40. As for the other car, well we are still friends and I will always remember the amazing times we had together. The XKR and I are now just good friends.

Exclamation Romeo doesn't get a Look-in!!! :)

Boy Boztron,
You are so elequant and daring to express your feelings so enriched! Congrats, we should have a "Dear Deirdrie" (A lonely hearts columnist from the Sun Newspaper), everybody read it er I think )
Ah the derisions and beloved confusion twixt or tween the Past Loves and the Future Pastures oh so Green and pleasant!
I enjoyed your passionate exploits and can only agree on how you feel!
The agony, the joy, the 1st Love set you free in sheer raptures of joy and abandonment and the following rendezvous callously led you to temptation and maybe SHE entrapped you!
You were under pressure and you had to escape, maybe SHE was too wanton and you had it all. Or so you thought..... I had the same feeling caught in the middle between two models and I sadly had one written off by a rather foolhardy incident in which I was blameless and I got a replacement but I have never felt truly the same, it's so hard to put into words and you said it just fine!
And of course SHE is a JAGUAR

I am absolutely sure many members will also have an encounter of the 1st Love versus so many other temptations of the Jaguar Kind! But will they be so emboldened to pray tell of their dark desires and Fantasy Phenomenon of the Feeline Cat Creation, Boztron Great Post, I think we'll find out shortly.....
Best Regards, Stu and keep that Zest, some will never have that feeling and others will still be looking for years to come, stay Lucky, Stu

Boztron:
Thank you for sharing. Funny how a particular car can really strike one's fancy. I have similar feelings for my XJ40. I love driving the newer car, and it's much easier on a daily basis. But then I get in my 'first love' and I realize where my affections lie. In fact, I like the car so much, I bought it twice! (I sold it for a very short period of time before asking to buy it back. )

cheers,
Scott

Oh you brazen devil! To thoughtlessly abandon your most trusted friend and confidante'! But at least she was inside...... Others (myself) buy another but not to replace, rather to add to the enjoyment. Imagine having only one dog. The poor beast getting lonely all day while youre off Working! ( how dare you?) It needs a playmate. Someone to keep company and help pass the time. Keep up the good work!

I'm glad you held on to her and didn't sell her. Sadly I've made those mistakes in the past. My XJ40 is my first Jaguar, certainly not my last, rather the beginning of my collection. Mine won't be another mistake I'll regret in the future. It's here to stay

Thanks for the responses chaps. I was beginning to think I should be in therapy. Nice to know I am not too weird after all. Did I mention I call my 40, "Christine".......

Excellent film reference spotting Graham, you made my day. My favourite car movies Bullit, Two lane Blacktop and Point Blank, all American muscle cars.

Oh Boztron,

What a bunch of malarky.....you know the real reason you went back to the Mrs XJ40!!! Is you thought you kept seeing a familiar pair of headlights in the rearveiw mirror, and @ every other corner you thought you saw Mrs Christine, Lurking...In Your sleep you may have accidently called out the young Miss XKR's name...even to this day you admit you are still seeing the younger Miss XKR (and not very discreetly some might say!!!) You know you did not want to get hit with a major repair bill, for letting the "love of your life" stay at home while you flaunted your LUST on Miss XKR (Jags being the high maintenance types and all)...So you went back to your first love to make up and see what could be done to save that long ago Love...Why is it you do not bring both ladies together and lovingly caress them in carnuba? Or is that a tale for another time and another place??? LOL LOL LOL LOL

Wink

JC old chap, am I that transparent, you are so right. It was just the shear excitment. The fear of being caught pumping gas with another Jag was a real turn on. I felt the XJ40 didn't understand my needs any more.
I think your idea of carnuba threesome is a bit far out for me. Although, the more I think about it....I need help!!
