Default powerflex bushes

I will have to replace a few bushes in my "new" car , front end. Has anyone used powerflex bushes, and do they make the ride harsher? Where can I get origonal bushes and shockers?

mickvic,

Try Gary at JagAyre in Melbourne for the parts if you want to use original. I have just recently finished a complete front end rebuild on my xj40 and decided against using the powerflex as they are considerably more expensive and yes they will make the ride harsher. If you really want to use the powerflex just use them on the sway bar.

If you are tackling the front end yourself, make sure you know what you are doing... removing/replacing the front springs is a real PITA without the special tool... the tool new is over $500 but you can fashion up one yourself if you do a little research.

While you're doing it, it makes sense to do balljoints, steering rack bushes and wheel bearings at the same time...

Yes springs are tricky and the jag ones look quite long. I have a sping compressor tool but I dont think they would cope with the jag springs.

On ebay there are full kits for front end in powerflex look reasonably priced, but no I dont want to use them. Ill definitely pop down to jagayre when I start buying stuff.

Right now taking radiator out when its not too cold and im not working (which doesnt leave much time) and sourcing a new fan, cost about $180 which seems a lot but there you go eh...

PF poly bushings aren't harsh at all and will darastically improve handling and feedback, a great upgrade.
