Preserving a 1993 XJ40
Several months ago a friend of mine posted this XJ40 for sale. It looked to be in great shape, but was having fuel delivery issues. He had replaced the fuel pump, but was still having trouble with it. It was several months before I had a chance to really start working on it, but I quickly found the trouble. The fuel supply line wasn't fully plugged into the tank! For what ever reason, it just didn't want to go all the way home. After lots of grunting and cursing I I finally got it seated all the way.
I was excited to get her back on the road and got antique plates for her. Of course she only ran a couple days before dying again
This time the fuel pump wiring was the culprit.
Now that she's running reliably, I'm finding other stuff that needs attention. The ac/heater blower is seized and blowing fuses, but the item that needs immediate attention is the rear shocks. There's a pretty nasty rattle back there.

Dan B: Very resourceful. I liked how you left a message for the next repairman (if necessary). Thanks for taking the time to document and post your repairs. Will you be recording/posting the repair of your rear shocks? I hope so as I probably will be replacing mine in the coming months. Thanks again. Ren
