Default Question about '90 VDP security system

My Mum just got her '90 VDP back from a tranny rebuild and now her Security LED on the steering column is blinking again (was for some time).

She's all worried about it draining the battery etc. So here is my question.

With regards to the LED how is it supposed to operate?

Right now with key in and turned on it stops.
Remove key it starts to blink immediately.
Open door and a short chirp emits and light stays on until door shut, then blinks.
Remote lock doors and chirp of alarm and continues to blink.

Essentially as long as the key is out it blinks.
Is this normal operation?

thanks in advance.

Hmmmm..... Mine works same as yours too . Mind that my XJ40 is '93 but I believe alarm systems work same all the way .Draining battery ? Nope, that wouldn't be harmful effects on the battery but if you don't drive your car one month or so it will drain eventually
