Hi I was wondering if the rear window switch and ashtrays on the X300 were interchangable with the XJ40 ones?
I need to replace some broken bits and XJ40 parts seem to be much more common.

Also are the door mirrors interchangeble? I know it'd look a little odd, but I really like the slender chrome items on the XJ40... the clearcoat on my body coloured items is peeling away and I'd rather avoid having to colour-match ice-blue metallic.

Since you're asking questions about XJ40 then I am moving your thread off to the XJ Forums so that our fellow guru XJ40 members will gladly assist you on your queries
As for your questions , late XJ40's some parts like door panels look dead spit of X300's but I don't know if it will be an easy fit which means you don't need some dexterity skills for it
Door Mirrors ? Sorry but I think X300's door mirrors are more functional as well as better looking overall for your outside view .
If your X300 came with the rectangular h-lamps as XJ40s then you could consider of installing them .
My humble recommendation on your mirrors is that you should find X300 Daimler or VDP Edition chrome mirrors .It makes sense considering X300's mirrors came with more chrome than XJ40s
