Default Starting problems

I've been having starting problems with my Jag for a while but it's also been sitting quite a bit lately...

Sometimes when I go to start it the starter won't even engage... I've found that sometimes by shifting in and out of park (through to neutral, drive, etc.) and back to neutral or park I can get the car to fire up but never in drive. My best guess is neutral safety switch but I'm curious if there's another possiblity of what it is.

Thanks.

Hi, I've owned and driven over 20 Automatic cars in my time and ALL of them will only crank when either in Park or Neutral this is normal.

Yeah of course that's normal but the car won't start unless I shift it around back and forth into park or neutral a few times. Sorry if my post wasn't that clear...
