Default stupid seat belts

Sometimes the seat belts will auto position when the car is turned on and doors are shut..... But lately they stay toward the front of the car like im parked and what not.... sometimes they come back while driving or not at all. Bad connection somewhere or just a normal problem? if so how could it be fixed?

I think power seatbelts were standard in the earlier XJ40's... if what I've heard is true they were dropped for being somewhat problem prone.
Didn't the seatbelts come with some kind of super warranty? This would be a good question for one of our resident Jag-geniuses.

The "attack" seat belts are no longer under warranty. Bad news there. I don't have any more, neither new nor used.

I have power seat belts on mine. Had the car for five years and had problems with them twice. Both times I take them straight to the dealer. My local Jag shop told me they carry lifetime warranty. The second time was just three weeks ago, here in San Diego. Anything related to the seat belt they will fix, like this second time, my passenger seat belt kept twitching, while mine worked when it felt like it. I knew it was an electrical problem, relay switches, etc, so I expected the worse by them not fixing it since it wans't the seat belts themselves. Proved otherwise, got a few relay switches replaced, and I needed some new cables in other areas leading to the belts. They said ANYTHING related to it, they'll fix, for free, I paid nothing. Hope you find this helpful.

The manufacturers (all the car companies that produced cars with attack seatbelts) got the lifetime warranty dropped after 10 years. Some dealers will still do them, some won't.

If it works occassionally, you may want to lubricate the channel that the belts slides on and use some electrical cleaner on the motor itself.

Sorry to resurect a thread but I seem to have this problem as well, only work when they feel like it.

Here is what i want to do since auto-seatbelts are for lack of better term "out of style" Can I force them to stay in the 'on' possition so I just unhook it from the thing to get out? Also do they sell aftermarket seatbelt retrofit kits?

*EDIT* After a little searching I found some replacement seatbelts here: http://www2.partstrain.com/store/det...passenger_side

How hard would one of these be to install? Seems the install would be easy with existing bucke mounts im just wondering about the top shoulder portion.
