Turn Signal/Hazard/Key-In Audible Warning Speaker
The turn signal sounds and warning chimes in my '92 XJ6 were intermittent for a few weeks, and I set out to replace the Audible Warning Speaker, which resides just above the ignition switch behind the plastic steering column cover.
The speaker is a standard 2.5" 64 ohm speaker. I purchased mine on Amazon for a little under $8 including shipping. They can be found for less than $2 at online electronics stores, but shipping is usually a killer.
Because I didn't want to drop my steering column or remove the cluster, I removed the lower steering wheel cover, and removed a couple small bolts that allowed the housing to move just enough to slip the speaker down and out of it's bracket. It's definitely a bit awkward, but doable.
I soldered the old pigtail onto the new speaker and reinstalled. It's exactly the same volume as the original OEM unit.
Hope this helps someone looking for speaker info. I replaced the same speaker in my 1996 XJ12 (X300) and I'm almost certain it's exactly the same type and size speaker.

Nick,
Thank you for that great report. Back when I replaced the speaker in either our '88 or '93, I couldn't find a source for a 64 ohm speaker, but that was in the early days of the World Wide Web and primitive browsers like Mosaic and few if any electronics suppliers had websites. How things have changed!
Cheers,
Don

The original Jaguar speaker was stamped "64ohm." I had to peel back the sticker to see it.
I wanted to find as close to the exact unit as possible. I was concerned about the volume changing; I liked how pronounced my original one was. Also, the audible warning module (located on the passenger side component board) is basically a primitive amplifier which generates the tones and drives the speaker, I didn't want to risk damaging it with a speaker of the wrong impedance.

Sure. I remember trying to download a program for loudspeaker design from a bulletin board, over a dial-up modem. After more than 90 minutes of long distance phone time, the program had not fully downloaded when the connection failed. I gave up and ordered a book on the subject.
