Default Valve block fitting thread size

Hello I am try to determine the thread size for the valve block that is part of the braking system. Can't find any documentation anywhere. I'm assuming it is british, but am unsure of how to check. Please see the image. Need the size of the threads for the two ports with red lines

pointing towards them. I cross threaded one of the ports and need to find the correct tap to repair the damage. Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to the forums Champs90,

As you have already posted a separate Intro, I've moved this question from New Member Area - Intro a MUST to XJ40 forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Hi Champs90,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.

I am not aware of any Jaguar documentation that gives the thread for those fittings. Typically the service documentation would just specify a Jaguar replacement part number.

If you can find a set of thread gauges, you can measure the thread pitch. Since Girling was a British company, you are probably correct to assume it's a British pipe thread, but it could also be metric.

If you have the male fittings on the lines that connect to the valve body, you may be able to measure the thread pitch with a precision rule.

It might be worth taking the valve body to an automotive machine shop that makes brake lines to see if they can match up the fittings. You might even find something with the correct thread in the pipe fitting section of a plumbing supply store.

A good salvaged valve body might be another solution, assuming the fittings on your lines are in good condition.

Cheers,

Don

I determined the thread sizes to be metric and not British. Two of the ports on the block are m12x1.0 which is a fine thread. One port is m10x1.0 also fine. A forth port is an m14, but not sure about the thread sizing as this did not cross thread and no repair was needed. The fifth port is unknown. The way I determined the thread size was to go to the local hardware and pick up an assortment of metric nuts that appeared close in size to the hose fitting ends (very inexpensive) to trial on the hoses. The thread's on the hoses looked fine so I started with those. This was a correct observation and I got lucky the threads were not British.

Hope this helps anyone else in my position.

thx for replying.
