Default What Battery to fix a 94 4.0 Daimler

I need a new battery for my 1994 Daimler XJ40 Hearse.

Unfortunately when my local motor factor tries to search for it by the registration number it just comes up as a hearse so they are struggling to get the correct battery number.

Does anyone know the correct battery type an XJ40 4.0 should have fitted.

Thanks in advance

The GROUP 47 is what is listed as correct but I don't know if that is a universal designation or an old North American number.

An XJ40 hearse - that must be quite some car.

The GROUP 47 designation Bob has quoted may not be recognised in the UK. The Jaguar Part Number when I last bought one for an XJ40 in 1999 was:

LNC1250AA

It was a VARTA battery and Jaguar still use this manufacturer.

The important consideration is rating and dimensions. The original battery Jaguar fitted to the standard XJ40 was 72 amp/hr although such a specialised and heavy conversion as yours may have had one of a higher rating. If you want to avoid the Jaguar Dealer, go for a battery of at least this rating with the same dimensions and terminal post layout as the one on the car. Apart from Varta - Bosch and AC Delco will certainly have one suitable in their ranges.

Here is some info for the North American market. I don't know if it will translate to Europe.

LNC1250AA is still available from Jaguar but is quite expensive at £106+VAT.

Genuine Jaguar Parts and Jaguar Accessories for Classic Jaguars

GGG is correct - is a VARTA battery, rated at 72 amp/hr. You will be able to get the same battery quite a bit cheaper elsewhere.
