Default XJ40 current

Has anyone any idea why a 1996 XJ40 V12 would have current loss of 3.00 amps at the battery with car shut down i.e: with ignition key removed? The ND Alternator has been checked by 2 independant people & is okay as is its capacitor. The flow stops if the round plug at the rear of the alternator is removed. There is no current flowing at all at the fuses.

+heaps.

If the drain stops with any item "out of the system" then that item is the culprit.

The regulator "leaking to earth" is a fairly common issue, as are diodes leaking.

I am looking for similar on our S Type, and the alternator unplugging was the FIRST item I did, no such luck however, so the search continues.
