You are NEW, so welcome to the real world of motoring.

OK, same principle. The badge on the front matters little, it is an internal combustion engine, nothing much has changed since inception. Air/fuel/spark, it runs.

Are the spark plugs wet/damp after this cranking episode you have just described????

Fuel at the rail is obviously required, soooooo, crank it again, it wont run as you say, after 5 seconds, stop, CAREFULLY crack the 2 nut fuel line connector at the rear of the rail and observe the fuel in that area.

FUEL SPILLAGE WILL OCCUR SO CAREFUL PLEASE.

A good SPURT means you got fuel and pressure. So maybe NO injector pulse. Crank angle sensor perhaps.

A DRIBBLE means NO GOT, so pump/filter/relay are on the hunt list.

The fact I read into your scribing, it WAS running??, although NOT right, has me thinking something has been disturbed in the rail removal.

There is a crank angle sensor at the front at about 11 o'clock on the timing cover, and they do/can just go legs up.

The year exact would be helpful, as you are right at a change point with '94. If it has a distributor then XJ40, if a whizzy sensor, then X300, very different system (Nippon Denso).

Lets know.

OK, XJ40 is what it is known as in Jaguar world.

Mmmm, out of gas will do that every time.

The fuel pump on that model is "inside" the fuel tank, and a mongrel to change. The pump should be heard to "whir" as the ignition is switched ON, and that is always a good sign, but NOT 100% the pump is OK.

The filter is inboard of the LHR wheel area, and easily seen from under the car.

Once all that is sorted, the TPS is then a suspect in the hesitation issue. Mainly due to simple old age, and then the ingress of oil from the throttle shaft thanks to gravity and maintenence slackness.

Kinda doubt, and find it hard to believe that a declared Benz Tech would be thinking that the vehicle was out of fuel and posting this to an open forum.

First check on any possible fuel related problem, is there any fuel in the bl**dy thing!

If not......

Grant is the EXPERT so follow his advice first, but I'll also throw in a possible Link Lead meltdown.

Well documented on here, and personally experienced.
