Has anyone put 16 or 17 inch wheels on their series III XJ6? And do they look good on the bigger wheel? There isn't a whole lot of info. on wheels for the series III cars. But I'm wanting to go with BMW Style 42 16" or Style 32 17".

 

I have a set of BMW style 5 wheels waiting to go on if we ever get a spring here in the midwest. I have a set of 17X8 from e39 and am planning 225/55/17 tires provided all of the clearances look good on wheel fit. I see that both of the wheels you selected have exposed lugs, so less likelihood of interference with the tall front hubs. I have my fingers crossed on the factory covers, but did find some tall centers that will provide additional clearance.

I considered 16s, but didn't love the tire selection choices in high speed rated tires.

 

I saw these on Craigs list. Said to be 17 x 7 from a 97 XJ8. Could that be right? Were Kent wheels made 17"?

 

 

Correct; these may be from a 1987 car but most definitely not from any Jaguar beyond 1992 (which was the last year of the V12 Series III cars - and Kents were the standard wheels on the Daimler version; Kents were not used in any subsequent Jaguar). Further there were no Kents in anything other than 15 inches in diameter - but there were indeed two widths, the wider being 6.5, I believe.

 

Look like the Kents that were removed from my 83 and presently reside in my of office!!!
