Default 1983 Series III Vanden Plas door welting?

Just got gifted a "barn find" 20 years in storage, "ran when parked" 1983 XJ6 which is going to be my youngest son's first car and project. As we are waiting on ignition parts, we started looking at some "easy" (haha!) projects, like the drooping headliner and the right front passenger door trim. The "felt" trim has pulled away from the backing and hangs down. Does anyone know of a source for this material?

It's known as "Furflex" and any of the usual Jag suppliers should have it or be able to order it.

Here's one example

"Furflex" is one term for it, "Draught or "Draft" Excluder" is another. shop around, there are many suppliers and many prices. Careful with Welsh, they are known to send wrong parts and then they will refuse to do right. Ask me how I know. Same with XKs Unltd. Stay away from both if you can.

the headliner is a big dismantling job, but the fiberglass pad under the fabric can be removed through one of the rear doors, all the seats and trim need to be removed first for maneuvering the pad without cracking it. The fiberglass pad must come out of the car to replace the fabric properly. You can buy the headliner fabric at Joann's Fabrics if you have one nearby, just don't do Pink ok? You'll need two cans of 3M Headliner spray Adhesive, sold at autoparts stores.

First do the headliner, then do the furflex last after everything is in place.

TIP: to remove the rear view mirror:
the pot metal bracket support underneath/behind it, was designed to break if hit in an accident so the mirror falls in one piece; You need to pull it towards the rear of the car in one hard pull, the pot metal support underneath will break anyway so you will need to find a replacement piece in advance. The good news, sometimes it doesn't break.

Be easy with the removal of everything else, the parts are delicate, do not use Neandarthal strength, most pieces are held in place with "springy clips". The chromed covers over the rear door hand-grabs slide towards the center of the grab handle, don't try to pry them off, they do not come off, they slide towards the center. Then you have phillips / posidrive screws holding them in place. Get a set of posidrive bits or screwdrivers, what looks like phillips screws are really posidrive screws used throughout the car.
