Default 1987 (2/87) S.III XJ6 vibration around 2000 RPM's

I can feel a vibration in the steering wheel and the seat-of-my-pants, only at 2000 RPMs and above in all gears. Both in Drive and when individual gears are selected. It is most pronounced when 2nd gear is selected. Just adjusted the 2nd Gear left side band with no change.

Not sure if this has anything to do with the vibration, but there has been much discussion regarding a solid vs a riveted flex plate and torque converter bolts being loose. Can anyone tell me when the switch from a Solid to a Riveted flex plate occured on a BW 66 for the Series III whether by engine number or VIN? I'm getting ready to pull the front inspection plate on the bell housing to see if the torque converter bolts are loose. Will also be checking trans and engine mounts and bell housing bolts. The flex plate question is just for my knowledge base. No intention to drop the trans.

Vehicle has 58,000 on it. Was in storage for 25 years.

Just got the car two years ago, so don't know if this vibration condition existed with previous owner or is new or is normal. Trans oil has been changed to Type F. Not sure what was in it before change.

I look forward to your responses.

Worth checking the rear engine/gearbox mounting. The rubber buffers are well known for rotting out. Also worth checking the middle propshaft bearing and its mounting. The workshop manual has a procedure for moving it laterally on the slotted mounting holes until vibration is eliminated. Those slots to allow lateral adjustment aren't there for nothing ! Also check the rear engine steady at the back of the engine between it and the firewall. Do this before you start dismantling things.
