Default 1988 Jaguar xJ6 Glove Compartment Help

Hello,

I'm having an issue trying to open the glove compartment on a 1988 Jaguar xJ6. Is it possible to open it without a key? I am trying to get my owners manual or at least see if its in there. Any info or tips would help thank you very much.

Splinter.

Default Anyone?

Are all glove compartments for that Year, Make and Model the same? Meaning will I have to buy a key for it again? Sorry but I'm very new to this I know these might seem like silly questions but I don't have much experience with cars. :/

hi,

the year of your car may make it a XJ-40 (official name), even though it also goes by "XJ-6". (it was offered since 1988 in the USA).

this forum is for Series 1, 2, and 3 XJ-6, (1968-1987), and it sounds like you have a Series 4 (un-officially known as a Series 4).

if the glovebox door has a lock like all other Jaguar models, the lock is normally opened with the door key, which assumedly you must have?

otherwise you might try the XJ-40 forum.

Mebbe so, mebbe not. Two styles of model years might be at play. Factory and state via registration.

Examples:

We had a nice little "65" Ford Mustang fast back. However, ti had 66 emissions.
gear. A late 65??? Opportunity!!! We bought it cheap because of motor ills. Jumped timing chain and a bunch of bent valves!!! Rebuit the engine and equipped it as a 65. Most SMOG junk gone.

Some thing like that on my 68/69 FJ40 Toyota land Cruiser.
