Default 1992 jaguar xjs v-12 possible purchase

Good afternoon -considering purchase of above mentioned vehicle. It is a 92 v-12, 2 door coupe. Immaculate, seems to run well, seller is asking 7,000 dollars. It is the only 92 xjs i have seen with the leaper hood ornament. Is that odd.?, or is that an option? Is the asking price reasonable? Re-looking at it today, any tips on what to look for? I would appreciate any input. It is a southern vehicle,no evidence of rust issues. Approx. 73,000 on the odometer. Thank you.

$7000 for an immaculate example, if that's what it truly is, doesn't seem off base to me. Consider what it would cost to bring a $3500 car up to "immaculate" standards.

There's a buyers guide in one of the sticky threads at the top of this section. It should give you some basics. The post back if more detailed info is needed

Cheers
DD

Might be better if you post in the XJS forum, as whilst there are large similarities with the XJ saloons mechanically, they do have their own foibles. 73k miles is not a lot. Are there any maintenance and service records with the car ? If it's a 92, it should be the final version produced under Ford ownership and is much improved over the earlier cars. I think the rear brakes were moved outboard which makes them a whole lot easier to get at and hence maintain. Engine was increased to 6 litres, from 5.3 litres.

Top condition XJS cars are now fetching very serious money here in the UK
