Unhappy 85 xj6 coolant leak

would coolant leak just because the lower belt has broken or am I looking at 2 seperate situations?

the car was running last night, when I went to it this morning, a small belt was hanging in the very front, lower area and there is a puddle of coolant.

is it possible the car was running with the belt broken and now there is more of a problem than just the belt?

Thank you very much in advance. I am not a skilled mechanic but learning on this car, any simple advice is great!!

Probably two problems but sometimes when a belt breaks it can whip around rather violently...possibly damaging a nearby coolant hose.

Cheers

If a belt has broken, you have lost something, like power steering alternator or aircon (if fitted). if it is a small belt, it may be the alternator belt, showing a red light on the dash.
