I have problem with my speedometer, it has never turned since I got the car fixed and running.
how and where do I check to fix this gadget to work once and for all?
Looking forward to your expertise and experience.

Does the cruise control work? Does the odometer turn over? Does the trip computer work? The transmission mounted speed sensor usually packs up and if it does, none of these things will work.
Hi Iramphal,
Cruise control doesn't work.
I remember the odometer turn once at a time auto electrician was trying to fix some issue on the car, but since then it has never turn again.
With the trip computer, some taps works and shows figure or gives info but others like the fuel tap works but doesn't give info.
In that case, where do I locate the transmission mount and what do I do to have all these systems work properly?
Thanks
Mike
Speedo sensor is at the rear of the gear box near the tailshaft exit. It will be the only thing in the area with 2-3 wires hanging out of it.
Three things can be wrong. The plastic drive in the trans may be damaged, the sensor may have failed or you could have a wiring fault. The head unit(speedo) is probably OK as multiple things have failed.
Most likely is the sensor in the gearbox. Having said that I pursued the same problem for much of 2020 between lockdown dramas and limited hoist access. My issue ended up being decayed wiring.
Unless you have some technical ability, the stumbling block will be testing the trans sensor. You can just swap it out and see, but it a costly part. If that isnt an issue that may be the way to go and most realistic for a DIYer. Alternatively you could pop the speedo out and check continuity to the sensor plus batt and gnd, before you buy parts.

I have to check the speedo sensor at the tail of the gear box.
How do I test the sensor after taken it out?
Here is a link with info for testing the sensor https://www.speedwaymotors.com/the-t...-sensors/28754

I think so!!!!
Never had to mess with mine.
Might check with David Boger for a used unit that works. swap it in.
Way out there. Might chcuk it in to a drill and see if the speedo responds??? .

I will check from eBay if I will find from there by any means
I had to replace my speedometer transducer last year, and found that the best value supplier was Martin Robey. However, the price has risen again since then. Here is a link to the part:

The sensor is located at the driver side tails end of the transmission when the car is lifted , it has two wires as seen in the photo I posted previously.
It is easier to be seen when the car is lifted.
Hope you would easily find it too.
Bad news on speedo sensors right now. Most online resellers are getting their speedo sensors from Eurospare. Unfortunately Eurospare is shipping part # DAC4569 (sensor for the XJS & V12) in a bag labeled DAC4570 (sensor for the XJ6 S3). I am on my 4th attempt at getting the correct part.
The DAC4569 has a 1-1/16" connecting nut with an id that is too big to fit the XJ6 nipple - the nut is almost as big as the sensor body. The DAC4570 is a 7/8" nut as shown in the photo earlier in this thread. Unfortunately, all the resellers have the correct photos of the parts on their site - you can compare them - but so far the parts I have received don't match the correct photo. If you can, buy from someone who has the actual part in hand, especially if it's sourced from Eurospare.
