86 jaguar xj6 wont start please help

hi i have a 86 jaguar xj6 was running fine parked it overnight came out next morning and just cranked over but wont start. I am getting spark out of the coil and to the spark plugs. i checked the fuel pressure with the afm flap pushed open and while cranking and it is about 35 psi. i also checked the fuel pump cutoff switch. The fuel injectors are clicking while i crank it so im fairly sure both fuel and ignition are working. I have run out of ideas so i need help please. I have checked the forum but couldnt find anything i havent already tried. any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

sounds like you know the car pretty well.

1) put the shifter in 1 and crank the ignition switch listening with your right ear towards the rear of the car to hear the fuel pump whirring as long as you keep the ignition switch in the
cranking position.(but obviously the pump must be pumping because you have 35psi at the Fuel Regulator).

2) check the Cold Start Injector, (CSI), it will stop the engine from starting. Best Test is to remove it and with someone cranking the engine, see if fuel jets out as you hold the CSI away from the face. (warning: the gasket will tear when you pull the CSI from its seat, better have a spare in advance of this test).

Thanks for your reply. I checked the csi today and it seems to be working fine. I even tried clamping off the fuel line going to it. I dont think its a flooding problem because the plugs arent completely soaked. Also tried spraying starter fluid into the throttle body. Any other ideas on what it could be. Thanks

Okay for some reason the starting fluid wasnt working but when i dump straight gas into the throttle body it fires up for a few seconds. But what would cause that problem? The fuel pump is working and i can hear the injectors clicking.?????

does not seem to be fuel-related then. If the injectors are clicking then the diode pack is good.

Then it looks like ignition or sensors.The ignition AMP is suspect. It is a GM part which can be found at NAPA. Check the wire connections at the AMP. Check the coil-to-cap HT cable. Check the wire connections at the coil.
