Hi, my car's armrest has jumped out of the groove in the underlying steel so I need to remove it and straighten everything out. I can see how it goes, except for the top end of the inner door grab handle: how does this end come off?

 

it's been a while since I had to remove the arm rest and door panel, but if I recal correctly there is an "L" shaped bracket that engages a hole in the inner metal?, and you first need to push back the chromed "finisher" at the top end of the arm rest assembly to see it.

 

The base model xj6 door handle is different then the Vanden Plas model. On the base model the door handle has three small screw at the base under the pocket and at the top inside the chrome piece a large #3 PoziDrive (similar to a Phillips) screw. Place the end of the screwdriver into the chrome piece where the leather/vinyl enters it.
