'87 XJ6 SIII passenger window replacement
The passenger window in our car was broken an needs replacement. Got an intact replacement with the track still installed and now we're trying to visualize the way the base track of the replacement part seats in the actuator mechanism and haven't been able to find any clear diagram. Has anyone done one of these? Any tips?
It's been 15+ years so I don't remember details. It was a bit tricky but in essence the same as others I've done on other cars
I do remember removing all the regulator bolts so that it (the regulator) basically just flops loose inside the door. This allows enough movement/tilting to allow the bonded-on window track to be disengaged from the regulator so the glass can be wriggled up and out.
I'll try to remember more
Others might have better memory cells and will chime in
Cheers

Thanks Doug. Circling back to this, it went well. I'd recommend approaching it as a two person job.
Window went in easily, front end first, then I held it in place.
As you noted, the regulator assembly gets unbolted to facilitate movement. Then the arms can be moved around inside the door volume to align with their respective track sections at the base of the window, while it is held from above.
The way the cover plate that the motor mounts to goes back on the door body was a bit tricky: in our case once the window track was seated on the actuators, it took some gentle applications of the motor switch to move some of the bolt holes for both the motor and the plate into alignment. Then it could be bolted tight and tested for the full range of motion.
Having a second set of hands to gently hold the window from both sides but allow some movement made a difference. We started with tape, which worked at first just to hold the window, but wasn't a good solution for the adjust and reassemble phase of the project.
